Health Screenings

Vision Screening is provided  for grades K, 1, 3,5, and 7 during the school year.

Hearing screening is provided for grades K,1, 3, and 5 and as requested by parents or teachers.

Color Vision screening will be done on Kindergarten students.

Scoliosis screening for girls in the spring of 6th grade and for boys if requested by parents.

Pediculosis checks (head checks for lice)-  It is recommended that parents check their child's head periodically throughout the school year.  Waiting for someone else to check a child's head may delay treatment.  If you have questions about whether or not your child may have lice, contact the school nurses.

Teachers and parents can request that a student be screened if they suspect that a problem is occurring - for example, if a child complains that they have trouble seeing the board, either the teacher or the parent can request that the nurse do a vision screening.Parents will be notified if a child fails a screening. In some cases, we will advise you to check with your health care provider for additional testing or treatment if it is indicated.
